No big hotel chains—just a long stretch of beach, a buzzing food scene, and a crowd that prefers things local. Ocean Park has always been a haven in the midst of the city: a laid-back, beachfront enclave where mid-century homes, guesthouses, and open-air cafés now sit steps from the sand. Along its southern edge runs hopping Calle Loíza replete with cocktail bars, indie boutiques, and some of the city’s best dining. Think walkable, unpolished in the best way, and full of personality. Immediately to its east is quiet and tree lined Punta Las Marías, now featuring its own handful of eateries.

BEACH PLEASE!
Ocean Park’s beach begins by Parque del Indio at the edge of Condado. High-rises soon give way to the residential heart of the neighborhood. Here, coconut palms and dunes mark the boundary between the shoreline and low-rise residences. It’s in this popular section of the beach where locals go for morning swims and kitesurfers take over as the winds pick up in the afternoon.
At the eastern end is Parque Barbosa (also known as “El Último Trolley”), as it’s the spot where San Juan’s streetcar once ended its route. Now, it’s soon to be home to a renovated complex featuring a running track, soccer field, basketball courts, and more.
Along Park Boulevard runs the final stretch of sand, where windsurfers frequently gather.
