A rental car is strongly recommended if you plan to explore beyond Bahia Beach. The resort itself is easy to get around by golf cart, but nearby attractions such as El Yunque National Forest, Luquillo, Carabalí Rainforest Adventure Park, and Fajardo are much easier to reach with your own transportation.

Guests planning to spend most of their stay within Bahia Beach may be able to rely on private transfers or taxis for airport transportation and occasional trips, but a car offers considerably more flexibility.

Bahia Beach offers a broad range of resort activities, including golf, tennis, pickleball, kayaking, paddleboarding, cycling, hiking, snorkeling, and other water sports. The resort also has two swimming pools, a beachside water-sports center, and more than 7 miles of nature trails.

The 18-hole, par-72 Bahia Beach Golf Club, designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr., winds through the resort’s natural landscape with views of lakes, rainforest, and the Atlantic. The course is also certified as a Silver Signature Sanctuary by Audubon International.

Bahia Beach is set within a 483-acre property surrounded by nature sanctuaries, with more than 7 miles of trails for hiking, biking, and bird-watching. The resort also includes lakes, canals, beach, and other protected natural environments.

Bahia Beach’s crescent beach has approximately two miles of dedicated beachfront, with opportunities for swimming, snorkeling, beach walks, and water sports.

Bahia Beach is well positioned for exploring Puerto Rico’s northeast. Within roughly 20–30 minutes by car, guests can reach El Yunque National Forest for hiking and rainforest scenery, Carabalí Rainforest Adventure Park for horseback riding, ATV and UTV excursions, and Luquillo Beach and the Luquillo Kiosks for a combination of beach time and casual local dining. The Río Grande area also offers ziplining, river excursions, canyoneering, and other outdoor activities.

Farther east in Fajardo, visitors can experience Laguna Grande, one of Puerto Rico’s three bioluminescent bodies of water. The lagoon is visited after dark by guided kayak or small-boat tour, and advance reservations with an authorized tour operator are required. Conditions are generally best on darker nights with little moonlight. Sailing, snorkeling, and access to the cays off Fajardo are also available.
