Ocean Park
Discover the cool, calm atmosphere of San Juan’s beloved seaside neighborhood.
Nestled between the tourist havens of Condado and Isla Verde is what we like to call Greater Ocean Park, which is graced by the Atlantic Ocean on its north. Popular Loíza Street marks its southern edge.
While there are several residential enclaves in this area, the most well known is Ocean Park itself. An oasis of tranquility in San Juan’s urbanity, this sought-after beachfront community dates back to the 1930s. Its quiet tree-lined streets feature a mix of traditional tropical homes and chic modern residences, as well as a handful of small-scale apartment building. The atmosphere remains relaxed thanks to the absence of large-scale resorts. Only a scattering tasteful inns and bed-and-breakfasts catering to in-the-know visitors are found here.
A short jaunt away is hip and bustling Loíza Street, which has undergone an urban renaissance in recent years and served as springboard for young entrepreneurs. Go on a culinary journey at one of the many eateries, running the gamut of Argentinian pizza, Mexican tacos, Korean barbecue, Puerto Rican specialities, and more. Shopping options abound at the many indie boutiques, offering chic urban fashions, designer homewares, and even surf gear.
